WOW
- Worship On Wednesdays
Worship
on Wednesdays is getting rave reviews! "It's
nice to see people there who worship at a
different service on Sunday mornings," says
one worshipper. WOW is "a comfortable time to slow down and reconnect mid-week and be refreshed in the
Spirit," says another. WOW is a fun, energizing mid-week
recharge! Join
us throughout the summer for Worship
on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary at the Heritage
Campus. There is a different speaker each
week and music is provided by a variety of
people. The sermon series is on the Ten
Commandments. Childcare is provided.

Popsicle
Party TONIGHT!
Join
us tonight as we host a Popsicle
Party from 7:00 to 8:30 PM for our neighbors at the Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park on
Scribner! We are working to build community with the Grapevine Village,
so several of our ministry teams - Evangelism, Project PASS (tutoring), Hispanic Ministries,
Children and Youth Ministries, etc. - are teaming up for a fun family event with food, games,
music and more! As we take steps to transform one of the poorest parts of Grapevine, relationships matter.
Our hope is to continue to build goodwill, trust and an ongoing friendly presence at the Grapevine Village.
If you are interested in helping you can meet at the church kitchen at 4:45
PM to help cook hot dogs and make lemonade. Or, you can meet at the church Family Life Center at 6:30
PM for final instructions, prayer and to caravan/car pool to the site.
Or, you can meet at Shady Oaks mobile home park on Scribner at 7:00
PM; park in the GRACE parking lot and walk to the clearing where we will have the party. Bring lawn chairs and bug spray and be ready to interact with the residents, play with the children and serve hot dogs and
popsicles. Questions? Contact Donna Price at
adkins96@yahoo.com.
If you speak Spanish, it would be great for you to be with us!

Needs This Week
-
Money
for ceiling fans. The Grapevine Housing
Authority has suggested that a great way to help our neighbors reduce their electric bills
is by providing ceiling fans. There are 98 apartments
within the Authority. Your $35 contribution will purchase a 52-inch fan. The storage and installation of these fans will be done through the
City of Grapevine. Please indicate "ceiling fan" on your payment.
Questions? Contact Bev Campisi at beverlyc@fumcg.org.
-
Window
Cleaning. A neighbor on W. Texas St. with severe arthritis would appreciate help getting her apartment windows washed inside and out. She used to love to wash her windows, but can't reach up anymore.
Contact Bev Campisi at beverlyc@fumcg.org
if you can help with this need.
-
Money for food for Rwandan grandmother and three
grandsons. Note "Rwanda food" on your
check. Questions? Contact Trudy at trudyh@fumcg.org.

Blankets
of Hope Needs Fleece
Blankets of Hope, the ministry that makes fleece
blankets for individuals in rehab for substance
abuse, is in need of fleece to make blankets. We
need both print and solid fabrics. Each blanket
requires one yard of each fabric (one printed, one
solid). Questions? Contact Jan Parrett at 817-310-5933.
Hugworks Benefit Concert
with Noel Paul Stookey
Noel Paul Stookey of the legendary group Peter,
Paul and Mary will perform a solo concert on Saturday, July 17,
at Poor David's Pub (1313 South Lamar Street, Dallas, TX 75215)
at 8:00 PM. Proceeds from the concert will go to
Hugworks, a local non-profit organization that develops innovative ways to address the special needs of children through live Therapeutic Music Entertainment, Music Therapy and other projects/programs.
Tickets are available only at www.poordavidspub.com.
For more information about Hugworks, visit www.hugworks.org.
GRACE
Transitional Housing Needs
We are partnering with GRACE's Transitional Housing
program as several apartments are being readied for single women to move into this summer and fall. If you find that you will have furnishings to donate that are in very good condition, please know that the God Squad, who readies these new homes for their clients, is always on the lookout for the following
items: coffee tables, end tables, lamps, area rugs, night stands, bed frames, good mattress sets in twin and double
sizes, comforters and sheet sets, art work, TVs with DVD players, working washers and dryers.
Their standards are high, using only the best they can as they make a new home for someone who has been without. We
also have need for more guys who can be available with their muscles and trucks or
trailers to pick up and deliver furniture. If you are interested in
donating or volunteering, please contact Bev Campisi at
beverlyc@fumcg.org.
You may read more about GRACE Transitional Housing at
www.gracegrapevine.org.
God
Can for GRACE
Bring your non-perishable food items for the GRACE pantry to the designated bins in the Sanctuary Foyer, Founders Chapel Atrium and outside the church
office. The GRACE pantry is currently out
of pasta and table size salt & pepper. Other
current needs include: Sugar, Cooking Oil, Kids Cereal,
Canned Peaches, Pancake Mix, Ramen Noodles, Oatmeal,
Tomato SAUCE, Tomato Paste, Canned Meats, Dry Pinto Beans (2 lbs.
Bags), Mustard, Ketchup and Mayo.
Mission
Green Tip of the Week:
What To Do With Dead Fluorescent Bulbs
How many environmentalists does it take to change an efficient light bulb? While your local hazardous-waste authority is the best source for information, many hardware stores will take back your old bulbs--sometimes at no charge if you're buying replacements. Check
www.earth911.org
or call (800) CLEANUP to find a recycling location near you, or visit the EPA's Web site at
www.epa.gov/bulbrecycling
for info. It's worth the effort: Though fluorescents doe contain mercury, a highly poisonous element that persists in the environment, burning coal to generate electricity puts almost fifty tons of the nasty stuff into the air each year. Since fluorescents are four times more efficient than regular bulbs--and last at least five times longer--replacing all household incandescents could cut mercury and CO2 emissions while saving the equivalent of at least 4 billion gallons of oil annually.
